Deadly bus crash in Kashmir

A private bus has plunged off a mountain road into a deep gorge in Indian-administered Kashmir, killing
17 people and injuring 30 others, officials said.

The injured were admitted to hospital on Tuesday, some with serious injuries. The bus was travelling overnight from Jammu to Srinagar, police officer Rajesh Kumar said.

The cause of the accident was not immediately known.

Accident occurred near Ramban, a town nearly 200km south of Srinagar, Kumar said.

India has the world's deadliest roads, with more than 110,000 people killed annually.
